Well this one's going to be short. All I had was my phone with me (unfortunately), so you'll have to use your imagination. Hopefully I can get out there with a camera before I leave. You have to take about a 20 minute train ride to get out to the trail head, from there it's about 2 1/2 hours roundtrip! It ends with a spectacular view of the hanging Denver Glacier :) The first one I've ever seen!
This is by far my most favorite trail yet - lots of different types of terrain. Much of it was temperate rainforest - such a surreal experience! Unplanned changes in transportation, etc. meant I had to do this trail on my own. There aren't any bear problems in this area, but I was still singing and clapping like an idiot the whole time to keep them away!
Had the whole train to myself! It was a slow day so there wasn't much train traffic. I got to make friends with the conductor, and brakeman, though!
You can rent this car out to sleep in over night - it's got about five bunks and it's only $35 a night!
That's a glacier!
Love the photos Liz, Keep doin what youur doin =) I am happy I found you =)
ReplyDeleteLove you,

So this is random but I am almost positive that I went on that same train when I was in alaska :) Looking at your pictures brought back some more memories and I definitely think I remember that train. It looks like you are having a lot of fun! Thanks for all of the pictures! I quite enjoy living vicariously through them :) Alaska is so beautiful! Hopefully I can go back there someday.
